Abraham Flexnerfue an american educator, prominent for his role in the reform of the higher education schools of medicine in the united States and Canada.
After founding and directing a school preparatory to the university in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, Flexner published a critical assessment of the status of the educational system of the united states in 1908 titled: “The American College: A Criticism”. Was very critical of the lectures as a teaching method. He felt that it was used because it “allows the universities to educate cheaply to a large number of students that would otherwise be unmanageable and, in addition, leave time to the professor for research.”
