Abbaas Kiarostamí was a film director, screenwriter, producer, and iranian photographer, considered one of the most influential and controversial of Iran postrevolucionario and one of the most celebrated directors of the film community internationally.
Filmmaker active since 1970, Kiarostami had participated in more than forty films, including shorts and documentaries. She achieved great critical success for directing the trilogy of Koker, close-up, taste of cherry – which was awarded with the Golden Palm at the Cannes film Festival that year – and The wind will take us. In his latest work, Copy Certificaday Like someone in love, filmed for the first time outside Iran, in Italy and Japan, respectively.
