Anthony Joseph Foyt, Jr., more commonly known as A. J. Foyt, is a former driver american racecar. It is considered one of the best riders in north american history.
Was the winner of the Indianapolis 500 on four occasions, the first to achieve that mark, and tied with Al Unser and Rick Mears. A. J. Foyt with 67 victories and seven championships in the National Championship of the USAC, all-time record even considering the remaining maximum categories american cars.
He was also champion of the USAC Sprint Car East in the 1960s, the USAC Silver Crown in 1972 and the USAC Stock Cars in 1968, 1978 and 1979; won 20 races the end of midgets; seven runs of 128 contested in the NASCAR Cup Series, including the 500 Miles of Daytona, 1972; and the three classic races of resistance to the world: the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1967 24 Hours of Daytona in 1983 and 1985, and the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1985.
Is the head of the team A. J. Foyt Enterprises, which has competed in various periods in the NASCAR Cup Series and the IndyCar Series since its inaugural season in 1996.
